We've just received the tins, so will update tomorrow. I can't believe how expensive this stuff is! Ok, it smells the same yum but she won't take it unless she's really hungry, which is every other bottle 6 hours and in between she's only having 1 oz and then refusing it. She's also been sick several times and had an acid vomit this morning. Will she get used to it if I persevere, or should I give her an alternate regular formula bottle?
The Ranitidine dose is only 0. It's clear, so I don't know whether it's come out or not. I tried putting the bottle in straight away, but she's refusing that too.
Is it the Neocate or the Pregestimil you're trying to give her. If the symptoms are due to milk intolerance then Pregestimil is unlikely to be much better for her than Nutramigen - they are very similar. That said the bad small and colour if not abnormally frequent or mucousy does sound normal for the hypo milks. Are you thickening? They will often regurgitate more than on regular milks. My son was sick far more often on Neocate than on breastmilk.
Reflux can be due entirely CMPI and when her system has recovered on the right milk you might see it decrease - at least the pain should. It's the Pregestimil.
No, I'm not using a thickener at the moment. The Dr seemed to think the Ranitidine would take care of that. If I could get her to take the darn stuff. We found out our little man has severe reflux so we were able to go back to our old formula with rice cereal added! Formula is such an individual thing, what works for one baby may not for another.
Our baby girl was crazy constipated even with water and juice , and had crazy AR. It does smell awful, and so will their poop, but it's so gentle on their tummies. Best of luck! Both seem to not smell great, but I got use to it. I found that the ready to feed was easier for my daughter to digest than the powder. Luckily, this baby currently uses regular formula. Alimentum is significantly more expensive than traditional formulas which is one of the main downsides to the formula. Just as with Nutramigen, the formula will not have the same sweet taste that breastmilk or traditional formula has.
