The Rock came into WWE as a typical hero and was disliked by almost every wrestling fan. Fans used to hold up signs that said "Die Rocky, Die".
Then The Rock turned heel and voila his haters soon became lovers, haha, not like that. The key to success in WWE is having a heel run once in their career. If WWE wants to make sure John Cena doesn't get booed out of his own hall of fame ceremony is to turn him heel and a perfect heel too. I'm not saying John Cena gets booed all of the time or Randy Orton gets cheered all of the time either, both of these men get mixed reactions but real wrestling fans end up cheering Randy Orton instead of John Cena.
Nor am I saying all fan-favourites get booed, guys like Rey Mysterio and Jeff Hardy get cheered by real wrestling fans despite being just like John Cena.
Wait, one more thing I want to talk about is The Undertaker. Last night The Undertaker perhaps did one of the most heel like things ever, he choke slammed Rey Mysterio and Shawn Michaels after both men had a phenomenal match and were attacked by Batista.
Isn't that a dirty thing to do? Flair said: "If you don't respect John Cena, you don't respect anybody. I'm not sure how I feel about that [the boos]. Look what they say to Kurt Angle when he walks out: 'You suck'. It doesn't make sense. LOG IN. Recover your password. Share on Facebook. The worked shoot promos of Punk calling out Vince McMahon made him the hottest act in wrestling.
Money in the Bank was the perfect stage for Punk to challenge Cena in his hometown of Chicago. The fans treated it like a sports game with every Punk move cheered with love and every Cena move booed intensely. Cena put over Punk to the delight of the fans in an all-time great match. The fans heckled Cena from start to finish with swear-filled chants, throwing his shirt back into the ring, and even throwing toilet paper at him.
Cena earned a lot of respect that night taking their heat and using it to create a memorable moment when many in his position would have refused. Entrance music is a key component to a wrestler's character.
But WWE have had a problem with producing memorable themes for its current stars. Joey is a writer with a decade of experience writing about sports, entertainment, and pop culture. Pro wrestling is his strongest passion with a lifetime fandom and countless live shows attended.
