Why do cory catfish blow bubbles

Not really. Mine only zoom when spooked, but they do it along the bottom, it's a darting swimming motion. It happens if i shut cabinet on stand to hard latch sometimes is hard to close , or i have one drawer on it that squeaks , both of these will cause them to dart about for a few seconds.

But again along the bottom. They spend most of their time rooting in the sand and plants or resting under stuff. Not much zooming. Well then that's why I call my Cory's psychotic. They do the quick, darting, swimming thing all the time! And not just on the bottom. They swim all over the tank; top, middle, bottom, everywhere. I have huskies, which is why I call what my Cory's do "zoomies", lol. I don't have video on this device of my community tank.

But i did load a video of babies before the cycle hiccup when i first moved them to a 20 gallon long. What you see in this video is basically what they do through out the tank through out the day. The adult tank isn't much different in behavior, just bigger fish that you can actually see. Lol Only the larger babies show in the video I'm linking. There is only 6 of those, but there is about smaller babies that video doesn't pick up cause of poor lighting.

I have since gotten a new hood with ked kit lighting so its not too bright , but brighter than what it was. I'll try to grab some new video later today at lights on.

Time zone thing, i almost said tomorrow but it's 3am here. Another video from bare bottom 10 gallon fry tank about 2 months ago. This was before the other 6 in the first video i sent were even born. But even at this young age , they still behave the same. I've had panda and pepper corys before as well. They all behaved very much the same. But i can't speak specifically for albinos as i haven't had them, but i would assume they would behave like the others.

I'm thinking maybe because the plants are fake? And covering a lot of bottom, and there isn't much shade or hiding spots. Though the babies were on bare bottom for a bit , and still foraged along bottom in a rooting behavior. Hopefully someone who has owned albino cats can comment as to weather this is normal for them.

To me they seem stressed. But i only have my experience to go on here, since the only time mine have ever done anything close is when they were stressed. If albinos get bigger than 2 inches they likely need more space as well. A 10 is small for schooling fish that get over 2 inches. You may also be overstocked at this point too.

Have you ran your set up through Aqadvidor for stocking level? Looking back through post, your gh is also well above the corys range of tolerance. This could be easily what is stressing them out. Their range ends at 18gh and even that is pretty hard for corys. You may consider cutting your current water with RO water to lower the harness. The level you have is also too hard for the betta. Aquadvisor still says the Stocking Level is too high, but where it recommends my PWC's I do well over that and as I said my parameters are good.

If 50 gallon isn't overstocked moving corys and Guppies there is a good idea, as aquavisor is correct, 5 corys that get over 2 inches overstocks a 10 gallon.

It's really not a big enough tank bottom footprint wise to keep anything but drawf corys. And your water really isn't fine , it's way too hard for both Corys and Bettas.

Possible even the Guppies and they like hard water. But yours is really hard. Your explanation about the GH makes complete sense, and I think fishfur or you, or someone else has made mention about that in some of my previous posts.

I'll move my two guppies over to the big tank and start using less liquid rock when I do water changes. I'll do it gradual so I again don't shock them too bad as I lower the GH. Remove all items from the tank and rinse them in clean water. Actually you can.

When oxygen is critically low, fish will gasp at the surface of the water where oxygen levels are highest. You also may notice them hanging out where the filter tumbles water back into the tank.

Other signs include fast breathing, lethargic behavior or swimming off-balance. If left unattended, eventually they too will be severely weakened by low oxygen levels. The initial action to take is to perform a large water change of as much as 50 percent. At the same time, increase the water movement by temporarily adding a powerhead, airstones, or even an additional filter. After calibrating the meter, you can place a probe into the tank water, and read the results on the digital display.

The best way to increase oxygen is to increase the surface area of the aquarium. Increase Surface agitation or water movement on the surface.

This allows more oxygen to dissolve and more carbon dioxide to escape. You can also add a source of fresh oxygen by installing an air pump. A goldfish can live in a bowl without a filter, but not at the optimal quality of life. Aquarium experts recommend that you not keep your goldfish in a bowl, but rather a larger, filtered tank. Yes, goldfish need light and they also need nightly periods of darkness. Can fish sleep with an air pump on? In all seriousness though I think fish can sleep just fine with air circulating into the tank.

As long as the air stone is not in a location that the fish prefers to rest or sleep. I have no idea if it's normal but they look awfully cute. My two baby cories are doing fine now, and have become totally accustomed to the tank. Is it normal though that they don't "mingle" with the grown ups? That sounds ok. I guess I was just hoping they'd be one big happy family..

Corys tend to shoal more than school anyway. ME TOO!! They look so hyper, keep swimming from bottom to top, and always hang around the water outlet of the filter, should I be worried??
